President Berkman Farewell Tribute

Students, faculty and staff joined community leaders and friends of CSU for a very special celebration on April 11, 2018, in honor of CSU President Ronald M. Berkman.

A tribute video recapped the tremendous progress that CSU has made over the past nine years under the leadership of President Berkman, who will retire May 31.

Julian Earls, interim vice president of university engagement, chief diversity officer and executive in residence at CSU’s Monte Ahuja College of Business, served as master of ceremonies.

CSU Board of Trustees Chair Bernie Moreno praised President Berkman’s outstanding commitment to student success.

Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson presented President Berkman with a key to the city. President Berkman also received proclamations from the mayor as well as from Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish.

Presidential Student Ambassador Donnetta Monk helped unveil a new portrait of President Berkman.

“The honor of serving as president of Cleveland State University over the past nine years has been the most rewarding experience of my 40-year career in higher education,” President Berkman said. “I couldn’t be more proud of all that we’ve achieved at CSU during my time here.”

To cap the festivities, Chair Moreno announced that the Main Classroom Building has been renamed Ronald Berkman Hall.
